Moderate Mainstream Muslim Newspaper Publisher Says Pamela Geller Is ‘Worse Than ISIS’
Prominent American businessman was on program to represent mainstream moderate Islam
At Steven Crowder’s website this morning, the conservative radio host has released new video featuring a prominent American businessman and publisher of a mainstream Muslim newspaper stating repeatedly on the air on a Fox affiliate that “Draw Muhammad” event organizer Pamela Geller is “worse than ISIS.”
“She is a hate-monger. She is drawing incitement and violence.” … “Let me talk a little bit about ISIS. ISIS is a hate group exactly like Pamela Geller. She is drawing killers, she makes killers, she is inviting killers to come in.” … “She is worse than ISIS. She is worse than ISIS.”
This is not extremist or fringe. The man, Osama Siblani, is publisher of “Arab American News,” a widely circulated publication, and he is a well-known figure in Dearborn, Michigan, where he is often interviewed as the voice of the moderate, mainstream, American Muslim point of view. As Steven Crowder says, he “is not a lone-wolf,” but rather he has “acted as a widely accepted ambassador for Arab-American Muslims since 1984. “Besides which, his claims about Geller have only exceeded those made by much of our major press by only centimeters, not yards. It’s not much different from what Bill O’Reilly or a dozen other talking heads had to say.
Here is what the Anti-Defamation League has to say about Siblani and his publication:
“The Arab American News, a.k.a. Sada Al Watan (Arabic for “Echo of the homeland”), is a dual-language Arabic-English newspaper published weekly in Dearborn, Michigan. Established in 1984 by publisher Osama A. Siblani, the paper has been described as the largest Arab community newspaper in the U.S. by the U.S. government-funded AlHurra satellite television station.
It has an “unaudited circulation of 30,000 in the Detroit area,” according to a 2009 report by the Pew Project for Excellence in Journalism. Its reach is likely due, at least in part, to Osama Siblani’s relationship with various Arab American community organizations. The influence Osama Siblani has in the Arab and Muslim communities in Michigan goes beyond his role at the newspaper. Osama Siblani is the chairman and spokesperson of the Congress of Arab American Organizations (CAAO), an umbrella organization that claims to represent the views of 47 local Arab American organizations.”
And here he is on a Michigan news program telling the panel that Geller is worse than ISIS. Worse than ISIS.
This thinking is only a few steps ahead on the path the press has already started down. And the implications of this thinking are clear. When the defiance of Islam is considered more extreme, more radical, more dangerous than the literal beheaders of the press and murderers of countless thousands, then the West will already be lost.
